It seems to be a nice collection of aphoristic sayings, wise and pithy truths, and overall a collection of legal requirements for a city whose regulation is the main focus of this work. But Plato chose to present his philosophy in a dialogue, a literary form, and it stands to reason that a competent author would have intention behind repeated lines of dialogue, etc. The commentary in the end of the translation is superb and fill the void on generally rare interpretation of this works.
